I returned back to the site for a new page. Saw the first three panels. For a moment, I thought I was on the wrong site and then realized where I was. And I exclaimed, “WTF is this!?”
Surely, quite the ace up their sleeves. It definitely surprised me.
Moon rockets? I had no idea that the Lunar College of Magic had captured this technology from Sheng’s Kralori underlings. And even less that it would be common enough to end up in a backwater like Pavis.
As mentioned over on the G+ Glorantha group, the rockets are the Dwarf Assault Ladders mentioned in the original Pavis boxed set. Don’t forget the script for this adventure is on Pullouts A (31) and B (32), we’re currently on page 39 – “The characters will hear a very loud shouted command. The arrow fire will cease, but a second later there will be six explosions followed by screaming roars. Looking up, to where loud hissing sounds are coming from, they will see six streams of fire arching above, three starting from each bank.
“Dwarf assault ladders!” shouts Garath. PCs who have witnessed Lunar army assaults on cities may have seen these devices – flexible cable ladders which dwarfs sell for excessive prices to kings. These panicular ladders may have been brought to assault Pavis, but never used, or perhaps they were purchased by the Lunars from the Pavis dwarfs. Coiled upon a reel, the ladder’s lead end attaches to a replaceable black-powder rocket. The Lunars know just enough about the rocket to operate it properly. When fired, it carries the front cnd of the cable ladder high into the air beyond the target. When it lands, a skilled priest or technician Glues the cable into place. Once stabilised, the cable supplies excellent footing. Attached to the cable is a flexible ladder which can be run upon or climbed upon, depending on the angle.”
Heh… I had been reluctant to go through my old boxed sets in storage to find my print version of Pavis, completely forgetting that I had the pdf version of P&BR 😳 Reading the relevant part of the adventure, I Still don’t remember that part about the Assault Ladders. They’re each worth a fortune! Lunars pulled out all the stops for this assault.

Mostali rockets?
Ah, I see a stable rune on the side.
If the rockets were made of iron it would be very expensive.
Someone please remind the Lunars again about the dangers of using God Learner items…
How does the soldiers say “Fire!” in Lunar language? “Yelm!”?
Oh, I am sorry, I posted at wrong position.
Having them yell “shoot!” would have looked kind of silly, you have to admit.
Also – these aren’t God Learner items! They’re just Mostali rockets. Well, “just”.

“panicular”? Never heard a ladder described as resembling a subcutaneous layer of fat before.
That’s the danger of scanning the original quickly on your phone – particular was mis-OCRd.
