That would be a newtling. Not related to Dragon Newts they are a small river dwelling people that live around the edges of the Zola Fel and other large bodies of water. They tend to worship water gods too.
Roughly 80% of the worshippers of Zola Fel [and it’s implied any river cult] are intelligent fish, newtling bachelors and other aquatic /amphibian species. Comparatively few are humans or even murthoi [sea elves].
I like the equal-opportunity attitude of the cult of Zola Fel – three humans, one newtling and one catfish. The netwling does look a good deal creepier than I had been expecting.
Equal opportunity is important to the cult of Zola Fel, as two High Priests are nonhumans; Reverend Sa’arrachmbro the newtling and the sentient catfish Reverend Brighteye. Makes sense though, as fish and Nestlings have a much greater ‘connection’ with water than humans. ?
Holy crap, that cradle boat is *humongous*. What kind of wood is it even made of? Or does this have some clever tie into the name “Rockwood” mountains or something, and it’s secretly made from rock?
I like the casual, everyday use of nudity, btw. It’s something that you don’t see a lot of in fantasy, due to how strongly sexualized nudity is in modern culture.
What kind of wood?
Giantwood. It’s a type of wood native to the Rockwood Mountains above the headwaters of the Zola Fel.
The PCs are sent on a quest to retrieve some for Duke Raus in the ‘Borderlands’ box set.
Newtling tails make good eating. This shouldn’t be an ethical problem as newtling sentience is deeply questionable. I mean, so they speak? Parrots speak. Stormbulls speak. How is that a proof of intelligence? As for their alleged tool use, pah! Do they make their own tools? I’ve seen baboons do better.
What is that gecko looking creature? My Glorantha lore is a bit rusty.

A Newtling, one of a minor Elder Race who inhabit the Zola Fel river.
A newtling. I vaguely recall a newtling priest of Zola Fel in RIVER OF CRADLES.
I think you’re referring to Reverend Sa’arrachmbro of Corflu. He’s a High Priest of Zola Del.
All Hail the Reverend Sa’ar!
One of my favorite Praxian NPCs. I used him as an example for ‘Not everybody cares about your problems, monkey-boy.’
Theres a talking catfish too, and are those Aldryani on the shore?
The woody-looking legs? I think those are actually bronze greaves with a whorled texture, not bark.

Yeah, one of the best things Glorantha currently has going for it is it’s incredible literate, mature art direction.
What kind of wood? The cradle floats down from the Redwood Forest.

I was hoping one of them would be a River Voice, but I didn’t see any runes on any of their palms.
