So 1000 fire arrows come screaming at the cradle. I don’t remember the exact numbers but let’s say 200 people on deck to get hit. No arrows miss the boat due to SIZ bonus, but people on deck are considered “riding” the boat (ie, 50% chance to hit the boat or the “rider”) so 500 arrows possibly find people (who have taken cover) That’s 2.5 arrows per person, to speed things up, GM says each PC takes 2 arrow hits. Most likely, only specials and crits even matter. And even then, the PCs still get the benefit of cover so many hit locations still get blocked by the cradle. In the end, the deck is littered with arrows and a few people here and there are screaming or deathly quiet. The PCs have to sweat out getting crit with each volley.
I don’t know – two or three Sunspears would make a lot more impression, backed up by a fraction of the magic poured into that volley.
What exactly are those archers targeting? Looks like part of the railing to me.
Looking at the bigger picture, those hundreds of archers are targeting the whole cradle (cover fire) so that the defenders don’t get a shot off while the big lasers are firing. Sunspear would require them to use up valuable Rune points, whereas this is just Magic points. I don’t think these are fire arrows, they want to capture the magic cradle not burn it down. Something more like Speedart, or for HeroQuest Glorantha, Golden Rain of Arrow Death (or some other cool name) off a relevant rune.
Firearrows! En masse! That’s got to be terrifying to the folks on the receiving end.
Terrifying for the poor GMs who had to resolve that barrage using Runequest combat rules, as well! 🙂
They only had to ref the bit with their own players – everything else happens around them exactly as shown.

I would like to have the eyes of chaneler.
How does it looks from the otherworlds?
Shields at 30%, Captain! 😉
Looks like chains halting the movement of the Cradle from aft and arrows striking bow. Bummer
Suppressing fire to allow the Lunars to get on with their Chaotic magics unmolested?
Those bows look a bit short and the archers are not drawing them as back as they can.
such is the awesome power of solar magic! 🙂
