Ragnaglar is a lot more misshapen than I’ve generally imagined him – three goat legs, three human arms, all arrayed about like the limbs of an insect. Embracing chaos has clearly had some effects upon his body image.
These are the gods of the underworld, the same gods that Argrath met during his initiation. As for who the dragon is – take your pick. I certainly haven’t the faintest clue, and I don’t think it’s supposed to be any single specific dragon.
I like this a lot, although the bat goddess seems to be under the first text box. I love the small trolls, the Unholy Trio, great, great, great.
Is that the same golden dragon that Argrath meets during his initiation?
Yeah, it’s the same dragon. As for the bat goddess – She’s not central enough to the illustration for me to bother moving the box around, so she’s staying behind the narration.
Love the detail of the rebel gods and the wars with the underworld gods and with the dragons.
I think this is the first (that I recall anyway) depiction of the Unholy Trio and it is wonderfully gruesome! Mallia appears more chaotic and more goatlike than I expected. And making Ragnaglar appear as sexually depraved as the sources indicate could run into a number of issues – not least, getting the site blacklisted for pornography.
I think you might be confusing which god is which. Malia is the gray bloated being with mutiple arms. The skull head is of Ragnaglar and the bleeding broo on the top is Thed.
You’re correct, I was confusing Mallia and Ragnaglar. I didn’t expect Mallia to look so chaotic (and expected Ragnaglar to look more chaotic). This, of course, is a personal value judgement.
Well, here’s some interesting bit of inside info – Malia was based on the drum drawing that you can see in the Guide to Glorantha, the appendix about Chaos. I really, really like that drawing so I decided to use that.
Ragnaglar, meanwhile, is based on the art direction that will be used in some other products, so I decided to go with that, since I didn’t have much of an idea on how to tackle his design.
I suspect this is the Celestial Dragon from the Dragonbreaking myth. It makes sense for the celestial gods to ask Orlanth for protection after he had killed the Emperor and been recognized as king, not before.
i recognise
I recognise Wakboth and Thed, I think, but, who are the other two?
Mallia and Ragnaglar were the other two of the Unholy Trio.

Is that Mallia or Orlixi?
It’s the Unholy Trio. The female broo on top is Thed, the lower left goddess is Malia and the lower right god is Ragnaglar, or what’s left of him.
I am a little more intrigued by the top panel contents (the art on the Unholy Trio is stunningly disturbing).
Artia is taking an era off the job? No, wait, she is obscured by the Lunar witch asking pesky questions.
Who is the serpent confronting Tolat? Is this the Kralori evil dragon and the fight for Teshnos?

I’ll be interested to read Jar-Eel’s interpretation of Sedenya’s come-uppance, presuming she deigns to mention it…

OK. And what does the chain mean? The chain that Mallia and Ragnaglar are holding, I mean.
Another fantastic page!

More! More!

And please keep up the great work 🙂
