Being pious and devout? That’s one thing. But you still have duties – to your family, to your Grandmother. And if a woman is to devote herself to the Goddess fully, like the priestess in the last panel? Well, that makes certain other duties rather hard to do.
And Samastina’s Grandmother, she has ideas on what her granddaughter is supposed to be doing and not doing, and becoming a holy person isn’t part of the plan, it seems.
OK, I’m confused… from the Queens list on Glorantha.com: Imarjira died in 1603, aged 72, while Samastina (1622 to present) was only born 1603 to Marilaina of House Delaeos.
How old is Samastina and does she really need another lover?
I think that’s the pesky Earth priestess. The dreadlocks make sense for a woman devoted to a goddess that likes snakes, and also marks out just how different she is from the Esrolian cultural norm.
Really nice. But what’s wrong with following the Earth Queen in Esrolia?

Too much holy stuff and not enough playing politics to please her grandmother?
Isn’t that her Great Grandmother who’s complaining?
Read it wrong… it is her Grandmother.

What I’m implying is “why isn’t Imarjira dead?”
Probably because the Grandmother here is Jolerta and not Imarjira. Imarjira was the mother of Jolera.
So that isn’t Samastina’s biological grandmother? That makes sense.
You just changed ‘The Queens List’?
Because the “Grandmother of Samastina” in the Queens list was a typo on my part. Much easier to correct it.
Is that Samastina in the background of the last panel?

I think Jorg was asking about the small figure behind the Earth Priestess.
Great stuff!
