I’m loving the use of color in this chapter. Also, Maybe I’m just seeing things, But I love how the girl in green (jokingly) ponders if The Snake Priestess is in it for hedonistic purposes, as she kisses the head of a snake. Good show so far. keep up the good work.
Yet another reminder that the consciousness-expanding drugs are there for the professionals, even if they have dreadlocks and don’t seem to keep regular office hours. It’s also interesting to reflect upon the fact that Samastina has a Change runner on her cheek, rather than the Fertility rune that would be more common for Ernaldans. She is marked as an agent of revolution from her earliest days. No wonder Grandmother frets about her.
I think Samastina can handle it, after all, thats a Mastery Rune on her other cheek. 🙂 I have to say, of all the protagonists listed so far, I’m most excited about how Smastina’s story unfolds (probably because I actually know the least about it amongst all the main actors of the Hero Wars).
That’s a remarkably curvy Harmony rune. One might even think that Keva was trying to make a subtle political point. Or just that she embraces all opportunities to further her various sybaritic indulgences. 🙂
That rune on her chin looks a lot like the rune for the Moon to Come in Under the Red Moon if you turned it 90 degrees. Could she perhaps be a member of the Red Earth faction?

Dun dun DUN!

…Is that a Moon rune on her chin?
It looks very much like like it. Another reminder that we’re not in Sartar anymore.
I do have to wonder how you guys turned three lines not into a Harmony rune, but a Moon one. 🙂

…or maybe putting a straight line on a curved surface (like, say, a person’s chin) results in a curved line.
…Maybe. I’m still not convinced… 🙂

Are these marks painted, or tattooed?
They are tattooed. Esrolians are still Orlanthi people, so they tattoo their bodies.
Ah! I can see why Samastina’s folks were concerned. What loving parent would want their daughter to end up going the Cassandra route? ^_^
